In 2014, Portland Port organised a hugely successful cruise educational event which allowed local attractions to meet with tour operators. The cruise business continues to grow at Portland Port so last month they held their second cruise educational event.

On the 14th June 2017, the cruise ship Adonia docked at Portland Port, unusually though she had no passengers on board as it was not an ordinary cruise call. During its short stay in Portland Port, the Adonia was returned to its original P&O Cruises branding before setting sail for Southampton to start its first P&O Cruise since 2016.

Portland Port is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Disney Magic as she makes her inaugural visit on 23rd May. The Disney Magic is over 300m long and can accommodate more than 2,800 passengers. This makes her the biggest cruise ship to ever visit Portland.

On Tuesday 11th April 2017, Richard Drax, MP for South Dorset officially opened the completed cruise berth extension at Portland Port. The ceremony, involving port staff, tenants and guests, was kicked off with speeches from Christopher Langham, Chairman of Portland Port Group, followed by Richard Drax, who then cut the ribbon and declared the extension open. Guests enjoyed canapes and a glass of Langham Sparkling Wine whilst celebrating the milestone event.
