PORTLAND PORT POLICE WELCOME NEW CONSTABLES

On the 27th February four of Portland Port’s Police Support Officers attended Weymouth Magistrates Court to be attested to the office of Constable.

The new Police Constables will continue to receive extensive training to support them in their new role.

Bill Reeves, the CEO of Portland Port said ‘It was a proud day for the new Constables and Portland Port.  As our business continues to expand, the increased capabilities of Portland Port Police will bring additional security to the port’s tenants and users.”

Portland Port Chief Police Officer, Inspector James Grant added ‘We are pleased to welcome these new constables into the Portland Port Police force.  With the increase of operations at Portland Port, especially cruise ships, the extra ability to protect our shores from the ever-increasing security threat will be improved by their presence on duty.’

They were the hosts to the Cruise Europe Annual General Meeting and Conference from 4-7 March 2019. Whilst the AGM was held in Bruges the Conference was held at the new ABC-Tower multipurpose terminal in the Port of Zeebrugge. Top executives of leading cruise companies as well as port representatives all came together for one of the most important annual meetings of the Northern European Cruise Industry.
