Portland Harbour Authority Limited is looking to recruit a Commercial Sales Executive. Reporting to the Sales Manager the primary function of the post will be to sell the services and facilities of Portland Port and Portland Harbour to ship owners, operators, managers and agents, cargo shippers and others. In addition, the role holder will support the Port’s growing cruise business and assist in all related marketing activities including the company website.
Particular consideration will be given to applicants who have experience in a commercial, sales or business development role, ideally in the ports, shipping, cruise or other transport related sector. Background in a customer service role would also be desirable. They will be able to demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills.
Educated to at least A’ Level standard and preferably holding a degree level qualification in a relevant discipline or qualified by experience. Candidates will possess good computer skills, with experience in the use of Microsoft Office and database packages. Flexible and a team player, with the ability to work and plan independently within guidelines laid down by the General Manager (Commercial), the successful candidate will also have excellent communications skills. They will be professional in manner and smart in appearance and will be willing to undertake out of hours working as and when required. Whilst the role will be primarily office based the successful applicant will need to be able to undertake regular travel both nationally and internationally to promote the company.
